September Wedding
These images come as close to 'picture perfect' as just about any. On a beautiful September day in Whately, Mass this lovely couple came together with their friends & family for what surely was a day they will not soon forget. We were fortunate enough to make the bride's earrings along with all of the bridesmaids jewelry. Everyone looks gorgeous & the setting compliments their style so well. Thanks to Meg & Sam for letting us share these with you & our warm congratulations to them both!

Customer Profile : Laura
Who are you and where do you live?
My name is Laura, I am a former
employee of Rebekah Brooks and I currently live in Brooklyn.
What are you up to these days?
I am an attorney for a Wall Street law firm during
the week. I am an amateur chef
(for my fiancé or anyone else who comes to my kitchen) and avid city-wanderer on
the weekends.
What inspires you?
I am planning my wedding at the moment, and am
currently very inspired by anything that focuses me on the simplicity and
essence of love and marriage.
Whether it’s a song, a color or a taste, its anything that reminds me to
take a step away from the fluff and focus on what really matters to me.
Vintage or Contemporary?
Both. I love a good contradiction.
How would you define your personal style?
I like to be comfortable without being boring. I like very classic pieces that have a
bit of a twist, or to wear contrasting pieces like ripped denim with a sequined
jacket.
How did you discover Rebekah’s jewelry?
I met Rebekah and her family right before her first
store opened in Northampton. I
worked in her store for a year before I went to law school.
Do you have a favorite piece & why?
Rebekah designed my engagement ring, and found the
champagne diamond I had always dreamed about. I have been wearing it for nearly 8 months, and I still
stare at it for at least 20 minutes a day.
She also designed the most beautiful gold leaf
earrings that she lengthened for me to accentuate my neck. Aside from my engagement ring, I can’t
think of another accessory that I feel completes an outfit of mine better.
What keeps you looking good?
8 hours of sleep as often as possible. I drink as much water a day as I
can. And I get cardio in by
dancing in the kitchen with my fiancé in the mornings.
* Thanks to Laura for doing this, it is belated going up on the blog & she is now no longer engaged, but married! Congratulations and wishing you both a lifetime of health & happiness xo

Antique Engagement Rings
It's been awhile since we've featured diamond engagement rings on the blog but as we're coming in to the height of our season, seemed like a good time to share some of these beauties. The two below came in last week - perfect examples of the singular quality these rings offer. The one at top is quite special with incredible white gold filigree work & a perfectly low profile set off by brilliant antique diamonds. The ring at bottom is more classic but no less stunning, sparkling diamonds with a large solitaire set in gorgeously detailed & engraved platinum - wow.

Cycles of Life: Rings from the Benjamin Zucker Family Collection
For those who follow our blog & our passion for antique jewelry, consider this. If you find yourself in New York City from Oct 30 - Dec 6th, make room in your schedule for a visit to Les Eluminures. Titled, 'Cycles of Life: Rings from the Benjamin Zucker Family Collection' - this exhibition collects over 40 exceptional museum-quality rings selected from
the private collection of one of the world's leading gem
dealers, experts, and connoisseurs. These will be on
public view together for the first time - the collection spans from 3rd century A.D.
through to the later part of the 19th century (*see examples below). Not to be missed! See you there.
From the Catalog : Since his first purchase in 1970, Benjamin Zucker has
assembled one of the largest collections of marriage rings in
private hands and a collection of diamond jewellery that is unrivalled,
even by De Beers. With each ring selected for its exceptional quality of
stones, rarity, and level of artistry, the collection features many
fine examples of signet rings ranging from the 3rd to the 17th century;
ancient Roman friendship and engagement rings; medieval posy rings;
Renaissance and Baroque wedding rings; Jewish marriage rings, and
memorial and death’s head memento mori rings from the 17th to
the 19th century. They include a significant grouping of precious
diamond-set rings. Many boast provenances dating back generations to
Europe’s most prominent collecting families, including the de Clercqs
and the Rothschilds. Ultimately, these exquisite jewels – many of which have
been the subject of national and international museum exhibitions,
loans, and publications – form a remarkable testament to a discerning
eye.

June Wedding
There's nothing like a Summer wedding. The world is lush, the air scented with flowers in bloom & (hopefully) the sun is shining. This beautiful bride, a wonderful client of ours, generously sent these pictures of her special day. In addition to making her ring we also made the lovely Silver & Pearl necklace that compliments her dress so nicely. Wishing them a lifetime of health & happiness!

Beautiful People
One of the best things about making handmade jewelry is all of the wonderful people we get to meet & work with along the way. Sometimes, these same wonderful people send us pictures of them wearing their beautiful new creations. One such couple is shown below, they generously sent us these pictures from their wedding & offered that we could share them on the blog. Thank You!

Something Borrowed, Something Blue
Our newest engagement ring is an antique Victorian sapphire and rose cut diamond Cluster. Currently we don't think of Cluster diamond rings or sapphires as being traditional engagement rings but, it was quite common in the Victorian era. Diamonds are a more modern engagement ring stone choice than Sapphires and many say that 'something borrowed something blue' was referring to the sapphire. The Ceylon Sapphire here is surrounded by 15 glittering rose cut diamonds. This style of ring has persisted for over 100 years and is both classic & timeless in every sense. This is a rare beauty of a ring, soon to find it's way to the hand of a very lucky woman...

New Wedding Band
While going thru the images we'd set aside for our Engagement Ring posts (closing with Day 7 tomorrow) we couldn't help but be wowed by these pics of a recent addition to our wedding band offerings. These are so lovingly paired together! The thinner women's 'wheat band' has become a staple of our line but the wider ring (more masculine though looks great on a woman's finger as well) is a newer design that dovetails beautifully with the original. Shown here in 14k Yellow Gold.
