Hidden Gardens of Beacon Hill - Thursday

This Thursday join the Beacon Hill Garden Club for a stroll down our charming streets to discover spectacular private gardens tucked within our lovely neighborhood. That's May 18th from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. We'll be open all day showing off some new antique adornments alongside all of our beautiful jewelry & serving Proseco to Garden Club participants from 4pm on. The weather looks to be perfect, stop by & join us for a drink!

Children's Jewelry

If you frequent our stores or website you know about our ongoing obsession with antique jewelry, specifically the Victorian period. Though not all that long ago, people were much smaller! Often when buying we'll fall for a ring that will need to be considerably resized as it would now only fit on a child's finger. Sometimes though, we don't resize these things & add them to our collection of children's jewelry we offer in each store. These make great gifts as there's no better way to make a young girl feel special than to bestow upon her a beautiful ring, bracelet or antique locket. 

 

 

 

Beautiful Ladies

Northampton is the diverse & bustling hub of our Happy Valley, and it's also a small town. We're always flattered to run into women wearing the jewelry, especially when they don't often know it was us who created their adornments. This weekend we were out shopping and then having dinner & kept running into beautiful women with lots of style who looked so great we just had to photograph them.

The word Pearl has become a metaphor for something rare, fine, admirable and valuable - and for good reason. The birthstone of June is both timeless & beautiful and we'll be offering 15% off all pearl jewelry this weekend, June 5 - 7th - come celebrate!

12 Days of Gifts, Days 8-10

Almost..there. The weekend was action packed! (*so much so postings got delayed). To play catch up here's three days into one: from the top down we start with Onyx for Day 10. A bold & timeless look that pairs so well with silver or gold, a beautiful & safe bet. The hours are winding down toward the year's end and what better way to watch it go than with a hand blown hourglass. For Day 9 try pairing one with black sand with our Onyx teardrop earrings - just an idea (they also come with white sand). For Day 8 some gorgeous milk-glass hand painted cups. These are just two of a bunch of totally unique & beautiful hand painted pieces in our Northampton store - they make for great gifts.

This what our studio looks like this time of year : jewlery everywhere, orders and envelopes strewn across desks - chaos reigns! But it's inspiring. As we come into the final Holiday push don't forget we also offer gift certificates if, for some reason, you can't make it to the store or just can't decide online which piece is the perfect one. We will be accepting orders thru Tuesday of next week & can offer overnight shipping so it arrives by the 24th - just make sure you call or email first before you place your order online so we can confirm we have stock..

In order to help you feel inspired with your Holiday gift giving we're presenting 12 Days of Gifts -  both here & on our facebook pages. What we're showcasing on the blog are specific pieces from the shop, things that are in some way special & that we think would light up anyone's face once unwrapped. To kick things off we've got this awesome Bulova watch that just came in. This is a gorgeous vintage time piece - 23 jewels, a gold front & stainless back with modern amenities such as being self winding & waterproof. A cool engraving on the back dates it 1956. June Wedding

There's nothing like a Summer wedding. The world is lush, the air scented with flowers in bloom & (hopefully) the sun is shining. This beautiful bride, a wonderful client of ours, generously sent these pictures of her special day. In addition to making her ring we also made the lovely Silver & Pearl necklace that compliments her dress so nicely. Wishing them a lifetime of health & happiness!

We may have lost count along the way but, nevertheless! Here we are at our final day of posts before we all tune to that universal holiday frequency where the rush of the world grows quiet at least for a day. If like me you still have a few people you either forgot or haven't found that perfect gift for - let us suggest our register earrings. 12 Days of Gifts, Day 9

Do you have a queen in your life? We've got just the thing! Cut Steel & Marcasite Jewelry. We've been slowly collecting some really nice examples of this. Cut-steel jewelry is jewelry 'set' with tiny faceted and polished steel studs, fashioned to resemble gemstones and usually riveted in place. The Swiss pioneered this process as early as the 1700's often using cut steel as a substitute for diamonds. Later Marcasite was introduced as it took a higher shine than the steel & didn't rust. These pieces are almost always made with Silver & the craft involved in making them was exceptional. We've got some gorgeous pieces from the Georgian era up to the Deco period.
