About Us
Our jewelry is crafted by hand by skilled artisans in our studio in western Massachusetts. We make (just about) every facet of the work - from earwires to clasps to castings. We source all of our materials as ethically as possible, recycle all of our metals & reuse precious resources thru our vintage jewelry. We are a small but close knit group who genuinely care about & stand behind the quality of what we produce. We value keeping a hand crafted tradition alive in times that might have us do otherwise & feel very fortunate to be able to provide jobs within our community.
The business began in Brooklyn in 1998 when Rebekah decided to take the leap & leave her job assisting other artists (among them Ted Muehling & Kiki Smith) to embark on her own career path. Her studio was set in a top-floor corner of a 10,000 sq ft loft in Greenpoint that she shared with her husband & friends. In addition to her space there was a photo studio, recording space & a furniture showroom with panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline & lots of old windows that wouldn't shut. What started off as a one woman show quickly grew, from the first trade shows the line was picked up by boutiques across the US, Europe & Japan. Eventually, when the lease on the loft that had nutured so much creativity was over in 2004, Rebekah & her husband decided to seek greener pastures and found a converted Victorian church in western Mass that helped them to make the leap and leave NYC. Since relocating, Rebekah's husband Christian joined her to help manage the business & things have continued to grow considerably.
In 2007 fulfilling a desire to sell directly to the public & be more creative with production, they decided to go out on a limb & open the flagship retail space for Rebekah Brooks Jewelry in Northampton, Mass. The store has been a great success! In addition to showcasing her complete line of designs, Rebekah has carefully curated an evolving selection of antique jewelry & specialty objects for the home. The shop has also become a local go-to for couples of all ages & persuasions looking to find just the right rings for their wedding. In September of 2012 a second location was realized in the heart of Harvard Square, Cambridge. Lots of work went into the design of this intimate space to make it feel like the jewel-box it is. This special location allows the jewelry to be presented completely and without compromise, we hope you'll pay us a visit.
