Spring Engagement, Day 1

As wedding season approaches we've been busy in the shops and with Spring just around the corner (really!) we thought it time to share some of our current crop of gorgeous engagement rings. First up, a stunning 3/4 carat Deco ring with a center diamond of incredible color & sparkle. The band is 18k White Gold, hand engraved with bright side diamonds, the center diamond an early transitional cut.  The picture doesn't really doesn't do justice to this beauty. A Carat & A Half

Back to our engagement rings today with a big beauty. This early Art Deco (1920's) ring holds an incredible 1.35 carat center diamond - along with some beautiful side diamonds bringing the total carat weight to 1.5 - alot of bling! The diamond is accompanied by GIA certification & papers. The setting matches the brilliance of the stone perfectly with delicate wheat engraving & millgrain work. Gold & Whiskey

A slight detour today from our scheduled engagement ring posts as we just had to share this Art Deco beauty with you. This is an incredibly set 3 carat whiskey Citrine ring whose facets both absorb & reflect light in equal measure - the depth of the color is really beyond compare. It has a perfectly low profile on the finger for such a large stone & the detailed work of the 14k white gold setting allows the stone to shine from every angle. This can't help but illuminate any hand it graces!

 

12 Days of Gifts, Day 9

Do you have a queen in your life? We've got just the thing! Cut Steel & Marcasite Jewelry. We've been slowly collecting some really nice examples of this. Cut-steel jewelry is jewelry 'set' with tiny faceted and polished steel studs, fashioned to resemble gemstones and usually riveted in place. The Swiss pioneered this process as early as the 1700's often using cut steel as a substitute for diamonds. Later Marcasite was introduced as it took a higher shine than the steel & didn't rust. These pieces are almost always made with Silver & the craft involved in making them was exceptional. We've got some gorgeous pieces from the Georgian era up to the Deco period. 

Engagement Rings, Day..7!

The last day of Engagement Ring posts has arrived. We're going out in style with this beautiful 18k White Gold & Diamond filigree Ring. The intricate filigree work and engraving are characteristic of the late Edwardian period while the setting that frames the diamond reflects the bolder geometry of Art Deco. This is a beautiful example - so delicate & intricate yet what's really nice about this is how substantial the ring appears while being so light on the finger. Totally feminine & classic but very unique! Features a brilliant .4 carat mine cut diamond that's full of sparkle. These usually don't stick around long..

 

Engagement Rings, Day 1

With flowers abloom and Spring in full swing - wedding season is officially upon us! To celebrate this season of commitments we are showcasing 7 days of some of our favorite engagement rings (and maybe a few wedding bands thrown in for good measure). Engagement Rings, Day 1

Every day this week we're going to be featuring a different Engagement ring. Some will be antiques and a couple will showcase our own creations. We'll raise the bar high with this incredible early Deco Platinum & Diamond ring. Did someone say 'Bling'?! The center diamond is a full 3/4 carat with gorgeous side diamonds going down the stunning handwork on the band - all of which adds to the unmistakable sparkle of it. Part of what makes it so special is that it's simultaneously simple & ornate, just beautiful!

                       

Sapphire & Diamond Deco Ring

 

If you're looking for the ultimate special something for that special someone this might be it! Arriving in Cambridge today we have this stunning Art Deco ring with natural corn flower blue Sapphires & mine cut Diamonds. These are the kinds of rings we're always looking for but are so hard to find & this, one of the nicest we've had. The large center Sapphire measures 40 points with two 30 pt Sapphires to each side, the four Diamonds measure 5 pts each with beautiful clarity & color. The setting is perfectly low to the finger which balances the antiquity with a modern look. It looks incredible on the finger, come see for yourself!

Wedding season is upon us! We love diamond Art Deco wedding bands because they can compliment an engagement ring or stand on their own as well, such as this stunning 14k white gold band with seven beautiful diamonds!

New Antiques

I found some really great antiques at the flea market the other day. Check out our new items, many more are in the store! And Happy Spring to you all!
Beautiful silver plated candlesticks, and a small sweet pair of bronze ones!

This Art Deco pocket watch is a 14k white gold fill, much more rare than 14k yellow gold fill pieces. The etching on the back is wonderful, and it comes with an antique watch fob! The pin is all rhinestone and has a lot of sparkle.

One of my favorite finds are these two beautifully beaded pieces. The peacock is a purse that is all wire beaded and is simply stunning, with a second peacock on the backside as well. The other one is a small box lined in red, and would look great next to any jewelry collection!

Art Deco Rings

The Art Deco Period was a design movement that began in Paris during the roaring 1920s and quickly spread internationally, continuing on into the 1930s. Art Deco jewelry is characterized by bold, modern design and streamlined, angular geometric shapes. Platinum and white gold were commonly used metals. We love Art Deco rings because they are so elegant and timeless.
